eMi in Trinidad

On June 18, 2004, eMiCanada dispatched a team of 6 from varying parts of Canada, spanding all spectrum of age, race, profession and height but with one heart to serve, to the Republic of Trinidad. There they spent 10 days working along side InterSchool/InterVarsity Christian Fellowship, in developing a Master Plan for a new camp facility. I was blessed enough to be one of the 6 and this is an account of what God did in my life during those days.

Departure

Steve came to pick me up for the airport.  We met Janice our Landscape Architect, David our Surveyor and Keith our Civil Engineer at the airport.  Security check went quite smoothly considering that David had 2 large hockey bags filled w/ survey gear and a big bazooka tube.  Our first stop-over was in Chicago for 3 hours.  Janice and I walked around the airport looking at the shops and getting to know one another.  Our next flight was to Miami where we would spend the night. I slept the entire time there. When we arrived in Miami, Janice, David, Keith and I went to the hotel first. Steve stayed at the airport to meet our final team member, Michael the Architect who was flying from Vancouver.  First thing Keith did at the hotel was go swimming. I can tell he's going to be the fun one on the trip. Janice and I went exploring around our hotel as well as the neighbouring hotel. When we got back, Steve was there with Michael.  The 6 of us are quite the odd group. Keith and David are 2 big strong guys, while Michael is skinny, stands 6'-5" and is British. And then there's Janice and I, two little chinese girls. She called us the doublement twins. I think Steve is the normal size one.

It's been a long day of flying! I can't wait to arrive in Trinidad tomorrow.  I thank God for watching over all of us and getting us all safely to Miami. I pray that the rest of our trip will go as smoothly as today and that we can all work together as a team. I'm so thankful that Janice came on this trip. It's good to have another girl here. I can see that we're going to get along very well.
