Day 4 in Trinidad
Janice told me that she has problems waking up in the mornings. She told me to take care of the alarm clock cuz she will only turn it off and go back to bed. I guess I'm okay with that, except she also wanted to wake up early to go running. Meaning I had to wake up early to wake her up! oh boy... So far I've waken up early every morning the past week and I'm so tired...
Of course, when the alarm went off this morning, 2 seconds after, the rain came pouring down. Janice is the soundest sleeper in the world! Both the alarm and the rain couldn't wake her up. So I didn't bother waking her since she probably wouldn't want to run in the rain. I wish I was a sound sleeper. I wake up to every little noise.
The first thing we did today was meet w/ the managers of Victory Heights, while Harry drove Steve and Dave went back to the site to continue with the surveying. The managers of VH was really helpful. They really helped us to understand how camps in trinidad worked and what was wrong w/ their campsite and what's the most important so we could keep all this in mind when designing. After our meeting, Harry came back to take us to another camp site down in St. Fernandes called Ridgewalk Camp. The drive to St. Fernandes was long but lots of great scenery. Harry is an extremely fast driver, I couldn't tell how fast he was going. His speedometer said 0km/h. I think it's broken. Harry lives in St. Fernandes with his wife, Pauline and their little puppy. The puppy is so cute! he looks like a miniture stuffed sheep! One thing I've noticed about Trinidad. There are churches everywhere! Are they legitimate churches? Who knows but we saw as many churches as there are KFCs.
Ridgewalk Camp is not as nice and big as VH but it does seem to have been better thought out and laid out. After visiting the camp, Harry took us to a street vendor for some snacks. I had this really delicious potato pie, it was so good that I had 2!
Then we went back to the IS/IVCF office where Michael, Janice and I met w/ a local landscaper named Karl who would be helping with the project. He gave us a lot of feedback and advice.
At the end of the day, the survey was still not done yet. Which makes it difficult for us to do our drawings. But Janice and I combined our CAD skills to do as much as we can. It's fun working with Janice, she's very hardworking and demanding. I like demanding people when it comes to work. It drives me to work hard and well. Before bedtime, the whole team gathered to do a devotion and to pray for one another. After that was suppose to be bedtime but Janice and I just kept talking in our room. I like listening to Janice talk. She just got back from a missions trip in Vietnam a few months ago. She's learned so much and really has a passion to use her skills to serve God.
