Road Block
Janice, Michael and I stayed indoors all day today working on the skematic master plan. We never went outside, just locked away in the basement conference room working away. So far I've stayed pretty quiet. I don't feel experienced enough to give any input into the designs. I'll let the real designers do the designing. I worked on the arrangement of building spaces while Michael hand-drafted them into more details and Janice just worked away on her little sketches. When Steve, David and Keith came back from the site, we sat down as a team and went over the Town & Country Planning guidelines. We went over it point by point and realized that we had 3 restrictions on the site that needed to be clarified. We can't carry on with the designs unless these restrictions are losen. It was pretty depressing afterwards. We didn't know what to do. It was already wednesday. We have to have a master plan done with various options by tomorrow since our presentation was on Friday. But without changing these restrictions, the project is not feasible. It seemed the only conclusion we could give to IS/IVCF was either they had bought the wrong site or they would have to reduce their camp program by 50% in order to fit it on the site.
Harry took us to Noble and Kimlan's house for dinner. They were church members and Noble was the head of is/ivcf's property management committee in charge of the camp project. They had the most beautiful home and Janice and I talked w/ their eldest daughter Kimberly who just graduated from UofT. She even had friends in Richmond Hill! Wow, it's such a smal world!
After dinner, Harry helped us get in contact with his good friend who also worked at Town & Country Planning. He spoke with Michael and assured him to go ahead with our designs. He said that there is a possibility that those restrictions could be losen! Praise God!
So when we got back to VH, we did a bit more work. It almost feels like school because I sleep so late and have to wake up early. Harry is so good to us! He even moved out of his house to stay with us at VH so he can be available to drive us to wherever we need to be. Sometimes it's almost a little frustrating because Harry does this all by himself with no other help. He gets so tired and we wish there was something we could do but Harry won't accept help. Please bring Harry help Lord! I truly hope that his sweat and energy is not wasted on us and that what we accomplish here in Trinidad will benefit the ministry.
